Eye Witness Laser Eye Surgery Day 0

Eye Witness Laser Eye Surgery Day 0 pictures

Today began my three day series of trips to the Eye Doctors to get my laser eye surgery. Today was sort of a data gathering day where they did a lot of scans and mapped my eye out so they can calibrate the lasers for tomorrow. Part of the process was dilating my eyes which made it really hard to see. It was weird I could see close things (like my phone) only if I took off my glasses. Far things I saw just fine w/ them on. Oh and I looked really freaky haha. Anyway nervously looking forward to the surgery in the morning on Tuesday! Will be bringing you all with me.

Oh and check out the youtube channel of the doctor who will be doing the surgery and leave them some encouraging words so they get the procedure just right in the morning ) http://YouTube.com/eyePorter

The Operation – Eye Witness Laser Eye Surgery Day 1a

May 21st, 2012

Filmed Tuesday May 15th, this video shows the actual PRK (Photorefractive keratectomy) procedure. In it you’ll see my eyes opened up, drops put in, clamps put in place to keep them open, and then the actual lasers firing. If this is not something you want to see I recommend either just skipping through or skipping the entire video and watching my recovery. During this process you’ll see they first operated on my right eye and then my left. The right eye went really smoothly but I guess its quite normal for the second one to give more problems and that was what happened here too. I was a little more jumpy during the left aye and while the surgery itself went fine the before sequence took a little longer. Big Thanks to Dr Isaac W. Porter of Lowry Porter Ophthalmology for letting me film this www.lowryeye.com twitter.com YouTube.com For those who are unfamiliar with PRK here is some info from wikipedia :) Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and Laser-Assisted Sub-Epithelial Keratectomy (or Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis[1]) (LASEK) are laser eye surgery procedures intended to correct a person’s vision, reducing dependency on glasses or contact lenses.
